Good News for Oregon's Economy

The 2010 Oregon Legislative & Business Delegation to China has just concluded, and this is my report to you, the people of Oregon. The purpose of the 2010 delegation was to promote trade, travel, training and educational exchange with agencies, businesses and universities throughout China, and to show appreciation and honor to Oregon’s sister-state of Fujian. There is good news for Oregon.

Please check my website for the detailed report.

  1. It's nice to know we're "exporting" rather than always"importing" goods from China. The sad thing is that China has learned from our ingenuity and we've stalemated, America is no longer a leader of anything, we're getting dumber and poorer this greatly saddens me. China basically owns us. So this was some nice news. We must as a nation pull our heads out of the sand start getting serious about education. "Oregonians can definitely benefit from this." we need to be producing smart ingenious kids if we want to keep this country great. We (the government) must maintain their house. Such as invest in our infrastructure throughout the US so another Katrina disaster doesn't happen. This old mentality of "kicking the can down the street" and let the next administration deal with it, must end.
Just as you maintain your residential house we as a nation must maintain our country's roads and bridges. This is just a no brainier. We should have our currency backed by gold and make it so cheap to borrow. Most of the people in the foreclosure mess are people who had no business owning a house...Geese, all of this such common sense, what's wrong with our leaders?

  2. As a small business owner of a well known aquarium/pond supply business (the largest in Oregon), we sell many unique products world wide right here from our location in Grants Pass.
What is often missed is we both export and import products, both of which provide jobs here in Grants Pass.
As for importing, we bring in many products from China which are designed by Americans and then re-sell these products throughout the USA, North America and other locations. This too provides jobs, yet many seem to miss this aspect of our trade relations with China and other companies (we are also the largest internet retailer of TMC products out of Germany and Great Britain). These are good jobs that allow for a flexible work environment and even work from home, allowing for a family friendly (since we are internet based).

I get very frustrated by those who will bash the importing side of the equation or local community leaders who look upon our internet based business as an “unworthy step child”

  3. I really liked the positive spin in this update. Can anybody talk about how businesses would start trade relations with China to export more Oregonian goods?
